Who Should Get Tested?

Testing for sexually transmitted infections is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) points to several groups that should seek screenings.[i]

  • All sexually active women younger than 25 years
  • Women 25 years and older with risk factors
  • Women in their first trimester of pregnancy
  • Anyone who shares injection drug equipment
  • People who have had oral or anal sex

If you have been diagnosed with an STD within the last six months, please consult your doctor. Visit the ER immediately if you are actively bleeding or experiencing severe pain.

Regular testing is a proactive step in maintaining your health and ensuring the well-being of those you love.

At Solutions Health and Pregnancy Center, we provide free testing for a panel of nine specific sexually transmitted infections to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care available. Our testing includes:

Don't let lack of coverage stand in your way.

  • Do You Offer STD Testing to Students?

Solutions Health & Pregnancy Center offers free std testing services to specific student populations differently.

    • Middle School students under 14 should contact their pediatrician.

    • High School students often prefer coming to our center because we do not bill insurance, which protects their privacy. Parents will not see an explanation of benefits from their insurance company.

    • Rutgers, Monmouth, and Georgian Court University students should visit their on-campus health clinic during school semesters.

    • Brookdale Community College students are welcome at our clinic as their health center does not provide screening services.

    • Students attending colleges and universities outside Monmouth County are welcome at our clinic during Summer and Winter breaks.
  • What Should I Expect At My Appointment?

You can expect a welcoming and supportive environment when you visit Solutions Health and Pregnancy Center. During your first appointment, our registered nurse will take your vital signs to assess your overall health and complete the CDC-recommended sexual history survey, known as the five Ps. [ii]

  • When Will I Get My Results?

Your lab results will be ready within seven days of your screening. Once we receive them, our nurse will call you to schedule a telehealth visit with a licensed physician.

During this visit, we will review your results and discuss any necessary treatment options. If your partner needs care, we will provide a referral to ensure they receive appropriate treatment.

  • STD/STI What’s the Difference?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that a sexually transmitted infection (STI) is a virus, bacteria, fungus, or parasite people can get through sexual contact. A sexually transmitted disease (STD) develops because of an STI leads to a symptom.[iii]

Detecting and treating infections is your best defense against disease.
