Pregnancy Testing

Think you might be pregnant? Common symptoms include:

  • Spotting
  • Tender Breasts
  • Fatigue/Tiredness
  • Nausea/Morning Sickness
  • Backaches
  • Headaches
  • Frequent Urination
  • Darkening of Nipples
  • Food Cravings or Food Aversions
  • Dizziness

If you have had unprotected sex recently and are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s time to schedule an appointment to receive one of our confidential, no cost pregnancy tests.

The test is a rapid accurate one-step, urine analysis pregnancy test, to detect hCG (Human chorionic Gonadotropin) concentrations greater than 20 mlU/rnl. A trained staff member assists with the pregnancy test procedures ensuring accurate results.  Test results (positive or negative for hCG) are determined immediately.

Our compassionate staff will administer urinalysis and an ultrasound for a confident medical confirmation.

About Blood Testing

Blood pregnancy testing is an alternative approach. However, drawing blood is invasive, potentially painful, and presents modest risks such as infection. In addition, you do not get immediate results, as a lab must analyze the sample.

Therefore, we recommend a painless, non-invasive urine test, which provides immediate feedback. We then combine this with an ultrasound for proof of pregnancy, so that you have the needed documentation to apply for Medicaid and WIC benefits.

About Urine Testing

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the developing placenta shortly after fertilization. In a normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in serum as early as 7 days following conception. The hCG hormone which has been released into the maternal serum is subsequently excreted in the urine. The concentration of hCG rises rapidly, frequently exceeding 100mlU/ml by the first missed menstrual period and peaks in the range of 30,000 – 200,000 mlU/ml by 8-10 weeks into pregnancy.

The appearance of hCG in urine soon after conception and its subsequent rise in concentration during early gestational growth make it an excellent marker for the early detection of pregnancy.
